SCHOOLS DISCOVERY PASSES
Our Discovery Pass programme provides schools who may face additional barriers to visiting Dynamic Earth with the opportunity to apply for free access.
Every year, Dynamic Earth provides schools the opportunity to apply for free visits to our science centre through our Schools Discovery Pass programme. This allows schools whose learners face barriers to engaging with science, sustainability and experiential learning to access Dynamic Earth to support and enrich their delivery of the Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability priorities.
These passes provide every learner in a school setting the opportunity to visit our immersive gallery and Planetarium experiences, as well as join for an interactive indoor or outdoor workshop for free during the 2026-27 academic year (T&Cs apply). Alongside our transport subsidy, this could make a visit to Dynamic Earth completely free (eligibility criteria apply).
In 2025/26, we provided free visits to 1,800 learners from across Scotland.
This year, with thanks to Cirrus Logic, we have been able to provide free visits to over 2,000 learners from the following schools: Newcraighall Primary School, Longstone Primary School, St Mungo’s Academy, Musselburgh Grammar School and Blackhall Primary School.
DISCOVERY PASS APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED
Applications for the 2027/28 Schools Discovery Pass will open in May 2027.
