SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT
As the face of public engagement about climate change, it is vital Dynamic Earth ‘walks the walk’ by reducing our own carbon impact.
We are proudly supported by the Green Tourism Business Scheme and are delighted to hold a Gold Green Tourism Rating since 2011, this award is the highest achievement that is considered outstanding and inspirational.
We have signed up to the SME Climate Hub Race to Zero initiative and have pledged a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030. Dynamic Earth continues to respond to any legislative requirements and Government-led targets.
Our Green Team was established in 2009 and work closely with all our staff to continually reduce energy consumption, waste and water use. Our sustainability commitments extend further, supporting locally sourced produce for our café, catering and shop working closely with fair trade and local suppliers. We support our visitors to make positive sustainable choices, for example by eliminating single use plastic, providing ethical food options and promoting sustainable transport options and providing e-charging points.
Our core charitable mission centres around the advancement of knowledge on the planetary crisis, including the climate and biodiversity crises, and overuse of resources. Backed by robust scientific evidence and working closely with partners in academia and industry, we are at the forefront of public engagement with environmental and sustainability issues and the positive, solutions-focused actions we can all take for a sustainable future for us and our planet. We engage and inspire people to be part of the solutions throughout all our work, from our formal schools workshops, teacher CLPL, our visitor gallery experience, Planetarium shows and all engagement programmes for the public, community, kids and remote audiences across Scotland and online. We connect experts with the public, helping to share research and knowledge in a way that is accessible and engaging.
