Dynamic Earth were the proud hosts of Scotland’s Youth Climate Summit – A Moment For A Movement – organised and led by the 2050 Climate Group this weekend.
Welcoming >150 young people people both digitally and in-person from across Scotland, the summit provided an opportunity for people aged 18-35 the chance to spend a day hearing from inspiring speakers and participate in workshops covering a range of climate and sustainability topics.
The summit opened with a keynote address from Màiri McAllan – Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Just Transition – who voiced her commitment to ensuring the voices of young people continue to be heard and taken seriously in conversations surrounding climate action in Scotland.
The event also provided a wide variety of panel discussions and workshops, covering everything from the importance of intersectionality in climate change and climate justice conversations, to pathways into green professions, approaches for tackling climate anxiety and opportunities to get creative and design ‘postcards to the future’.
The day was captured by artist Cara Rooney in a live illustration of the panels and sessions throughout the day.
Reflecting on the event, 2050 Climate Group Director Laura Curtis-Moss – Director of 2050 Climate Group – said “Dynamic Earth was an obvious choice to host our Youth Climate Summit – an accessible and inclusive venue and an organisation that shares our priorities when it comes to tackling the climate crisis and providing a platform for the voices of young people to be heard”
Chair of the Board of Trustees at 2050 Climate Group – John Lowe – said “We had a fantastic Youth Climate Summit, bringing together over 150 young people to learn about and discuss the climate emergency. We’re very grateful to Dynamic Earth for hosting the event and for all their support. The backdrop of Gaia couldn’t have been more perfect for a day discussing the future of our fragile planet and global society”
